This was his press release in the North Devon Journal on Thursday 27th October 2011
CHANCE TO IMPROVE PARKING IN THE TOWN
An Ilfracombe councillor who wants to improve parking provision in the town has asked for innovative and creative suggestions from residents.
Town and District Councillor Paul Yabsley believes more could be made of the town's car parks and is preparing a business plan to present to North Devon and Devon County Councils.
Mr Yabsley said: "In the evenings, Wilder Road car park is empty but our side streets are packed.
I think we need to look at a residents' parking scheme here.
We also need to look at how we can use our car parks to improve the economy in the town, as has been done in Fremington and Newport where shoppers get the first hour free."
Mr Yabsley said any feedback needs to be realistic and must consider the bigger picture in the town.
He said: "Free parking all the time just isn't going to happen but we need to think creatively to identify ways of supporting our residents and local businesses.
The sooner people get in touch, the sooner we can get a plan together: All ideas are welcome."
Anyone who has any suggestions should email Mr Yabsley at firstname.lastname@example.org
